On this website's page entitled "To Do" Lists, there are links to resources regarding how to find a financial advisor. For far too many widows, however, their financial needs are more immediate. On this website's "Home" page, there are links to resources for food and rental assistance.
Especially in this time of Covid-19 and widespread economic challenges, it is difficult to find financial resources for widows; below are a few links that might be helpful. More will be added as the website author's research continues.
Washington has a "Worker Retraining Program" for state residents. If you are a displaced homemaker due to divorce or the death of your spouse within the past 48 months, you may qualify for this program. It is provided by Workforce Education; phone number 425.564.4054, or email [email protected].
The Liz Logelin Foundation is a nonprofit organization that awards grants to widows with dependent children during the first year after a spouse's death.
The Hope for Widows Foundation has an "Annual Restoring Hope and Peace Grant."
For widows who are interested in scholarships, the Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund is open to low-income women over age 35 who are seeking either associate or bachelor degrees. (Jeannette Rankin was the first woman elected to Congress.)
The Soroptimists organization has a "Live Your Dreams" award, which is available to primary earners who are enrolled in or accepted to a vocational training program or a four-year college.
